Also, we are ALWAYS looking for volunteers.
Registration is open and this year we are two independent regions (I mean, still same folks running it...) - EASTERN NEW ENGLAND and WESTERN NEW ENGLAND. This means no semifinals and a team from each region goes to DC! Schools can choose which region they want to enter but no school can be in both.
In addition, the BSCES will cover any NEW ENGLAND team that fully competes in Future City for High Schools competition. Contact Reed for more details.
The theme this year is about URBAN WILDFIRES.

TEAM SOIL DE JANEIRO FROM WILBRAHAM MONSON ACADEMY, OUR OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVE FROM NEW ENGLAND AT THE INTERNATIONAL FINALS, JUST WON THE ASABE AWARD -- THE "FARM TO TABLE" AWARD OF THE NATIONAL COMPETITION!
Our Finalists:
1. Soil de Janeiro
2. Derby 9: Horizon Bay
3. PGS Rowley: Kaleizoei
4. JFK Middle: Demeter's Designers - Athens
5. AMS Medford: Atplantis
This past year, we had eastern and western New England semifinal competitions for middle schools, and in addition, there is now a high school competition! The rules for high schools is similar to middle schools except instead of making a scale physical model, teams are given the CAD/BIM program Revit and they design their cities using that program. There is no regional competition for high schools -- the teams are virtually competing internationally and the top teams are invited to Washington DC where they present in person. Because our policy is to never allow any of our teams to incur any registration expenses, we are in the process of securing funds to cover a limited number of teams in New England. More information is to come.
FUTURE CITY - Students grades 6-8 create their dream city of the future, but then explain how it all works using convincing technology! Registration is now closed, but we can always use volunteers and judges -- find us at
www.engineeryourfuture.org -- we are the NEW ENGLAND region.
Last year was WONDERFUL! Watch or New England FINALS:

The contest ran through June 7, 2026 - congrats to the students of Stockbridge Vermont for taking 1st through 3rd places! I hope you enjoyed all the activities on your last day of school!
After a long hiaitus, the Ralph Salvucci Online Bridge Contest is BACK! Thanks to Stephen and Gene Ressler, with help from ASCE, our favorite contest is ready for a return. This was a test run.

We truly need sponsors and personal donations. Our goal is to never have students, schools, teachers or parents be faced with registration costs, and to elimate as many of their expenses as feasible. Please sponsor, and if you know anyone else, especially companies fitting our farm to table theme, share this with them as well.
We are a group of volunteers. While membership in BSCES is recommended it is not mandatory for volunteering. We do require CORI checks and participating in the free training found at https://www.d2l.org/training-catalog/stewards-of-children/. Think you would be a good fit? Get in touch for more information!
The Boston Society of Civil Engineers has been around since 1848. Our Model Bridge Contest is having its 36th Anniversary this year!
We bring opportunities for young people to experience STEM careers and that feeling one gets when they work to solve world problems. Our goal is to set an even playing field, taking economic or other factors out of the equation to gain that experience.
